BIO
As a kid growing up in Brooklyn, Val found pen and page the best escape from the stressful demands of a figure skater training competiitively with an eye on the Olympics. After practices on the ice beginning at at dawn, she would stop for coffee and linger in a booth journaling for hours, often avoiding school.

Later at college, she began writing poetry and loved the process of collaging words and weaving stories into verse. After retiring from a  pro skating career that included touring with ICE CAPADES, she was given a guitar and began translating poetry into lyrics and her songwriting journey began.....

With a diverse listening background ranging from classical music to show tunes to rock n' roll, Val began to lean heavily towards roots music and  artists with a jagged edge: Rickie Lee Jones, Tom Waits, Emmy Lou Harris to name a few. Tunes that told tales of rural living with twangy tones ironically spoke to her, as her lifestyle was often navigating crowded sidewalks or riding New York City subways.

Eventually Val was recording her own emotionally driven tunes informed by her imagistic poets soul and love of constructing words into song. Today, she plays with her band and  fellow musiicans and her tunes can be found on most online music platforms.  Her debut album " PAPER ROMANCE" can be purchased on this site along with her second studio album "FANCY TOWN" which was recordied in Nashville with some of the towns foremost country artists.
